Valpolicella cycling the ultimate cross tastic experience !!

Our region is an extremely popular place for road bike enthusiasts to travel.  While they have the apparent feeling of safety, many are not.  Most cyclists and many guides feel is safer because is the cycling even.
What they probably don’t take into consideration is that Italian road can be very narrow which leaves less room for cars passing bicycles.  Additionally, there are wonderful landscape to admire so motorists will often become inattentive. This can be particularly hazardous and dangerous for someone who is on a bicycle.
The best visibility and best clothing, including lights, may not prevent a serious and unfortunate and tragic accident. But we have the solution! Closely Garda'd secret

Cycling up snow-copped mountains then sipping cappuccinos on the beach before lunch - could Italy's Lake Garda be Europe's best kept cycling secret? This was the question of one of the most important cycling magazine of Europe "Cycling plus". The replay is easy: YES IT IS! This is a stunning place, where 2000- meter-high rugged peaks and sheer cliff lean over the postcard picturesque Lake Garda.

Amazing view of the Lake from Monte Baldo peak road
The place where several Pro has decide to live for the special climate that you can find all year around. There is no other place where you can find so many other cyclist. Main lake coastal road is the ideal start for any ride on the mountains above. You will find my enthusiasm for this region infectious. Within the space of few hours it dishes up the full gamut of cycling pain and pleasure - challenge and payback. From the wine-flanked lanes by my place to tough, torturous switchback climbs, roof-of-the world mountaintop view, endless breathtaking descents- same fast and same technical - to, finally, the ultimate cake stop payoff: Caffe e Gelato, the just rewards of coffee and ice cream on the glamorous Lake Garda. Came to visit the Cyling Nirvana, you could chose between grate riding for any cyclist level.
Haw to arrive? The nearest airport is Verona Catullo, which is only 10km from Valpolicella and 20 to the lake and is served by British Airways and Ryanair.
So what are you waiting book your spring brake!

Sorry Folks

O my god, I should write on this blog often. Sorry folks, but this long summer seams never finish, so I enjoy my ride more than to write.

Now also in Valpolicella the temperature has drop down but yesterday afternoon was still 17, not so bad, for the fall season, what you think about. Here the weather is still clement and allowed me to ride practically every day. I was wondering, what could makes your ride holiday better than before? I have my opinion but I’ll be thankful if you would contribute telling me your ideas too.
For example:
  •          Would you appreciate the possibility to test new bikes while riding together?
  •          Would you like to ride with same pro during our tour just in case you may have same                question for them?
  •          Would you like to climb the famous Dolomiti climbs?
  •          What about to ride the Giro Stage?
  •          Are you passionate in Triathlon?

Ok that’s all for now, I wait you comments , and remember that the cycling season in Italy never finish, so I wait you also during the winter, for the Xmass shopping too. By the way now is Novello wine time, that with chestnut is wonderful.
Ciao P.

Heven

View of Torri from Albisano

Today was going to be a usual ride. A couple of cool hours around the vineyard. This morning, however, I was running ahead of schedule and the weather was nice and cool for a summer morning. With nothing better to do, I chose to leave early and get in a nice casual ride. I could not have made a better decision. I rolled out my place and I rolled right through up to Main wine Street. I was in no hurry as I rolled along, pedaling the 38x15 a moderate cadence. What a pleasure smelling the mature grape perfume in the early raised sun. The legs today didn’t turn as usual, but it will be the nice temperature, the perfume, I’ve decided to go for a lake and Valpolicella hills tour. A classic tour that present a long climb with breath taking lake view and one of the most beautiful climb through the vineyard.  Torri Albisano presented a good challenge as it rose upwards. I too rose sometime out of the saddle and pushed my way up the steep climb with a gentle rocking motion. After a couple of “Tornanti”, the lake became visible. The soft morning light bathing the century old “Cipressi” in a warm glow.

Torri - Albisano

I rode it  in 25 minutes in this little slice of heaven without a single car passing me in either direction. After the long eat and drink way back to the Valpolicella I have decided for the “Pendola” another good challenge when you rose it after 60km.

Pendola
It’s not a long way to the crest but the way to the top  it’s about 5 km. I was feeling really good and hammering up hills in the big ring. The last 2 weeks have been a holyday period (no cycling) with my family. So I’ve been surprised about my performance. Back home my Polar says about 80km  in 2h45 something more of the 2 hours scheduled at the departure, but the wheatear, the temperature, the grape perfume was so good to go back. All good things must come to an end. Still, this morning ride was the type of ride that reminds you of the pure joy of cycling. No intervals. No competition. No guilt for riding comfortably. Simply, a great morning.
I hope to share this and other wonderful tour soon with you.
